Top Fashion Trends of 2020
There is a difference between runway fashion and street style, and unless you are living your best life on the red carpet, these top fashion trends relate to those rocking the street style. In 2020, fashion trends evolved just as they do every year. These are the top six trends that spoke loudly to me this year.
The first item will 100% be leather - leather jackets, leather pants, leather dresses, etc. Whether it is real leather or faux leather, it has been a staple that I am on board with. A leather jacket can be slipped on over top of any outfit, casual with joggers or leggings, or decked out with a dress or nice denim. Another favorite way I have enjoyed faux leather is with pants. I got the best leather joggers at Target for $20! If you are not a joggers gal, Spanx faux leather leggings are a little more of an investment pricing around $98 but will be worth it when you have them in your closet.
The second trend has been the return of all the animal prints! Tiger, zebra, cheetah, snake, leopard, you name it. Animal prints are so fun and can make any outfit stand out, whether it be on your top, pants, bag, or shoes.
The third fashion trend would be bright colored or patterned blazers. Blazers are no longer only made for inside the workplace, but if you have to be professional, why not make it look fun? The transformation of work fashion to street style has allowed blazers to expand their look all around.
The fourth trend that popped off this fall has been the “shacket”, which is a shirt and jacket mix. It appears as a thicker button-down shirt that is worn as a jacket, so it is left unbuttoned. These have been made as corduroy, plaid, neutral-colored, or sherpa lined. Definitely a staple piece.
The sweater vests have made a comeback and are the fifth fashion trend from this year. Throw it over top of a white collared shirt and the different outfits with this is endless. You could put it with faux leather leggings, mom jeans, or make it oversized and wear it as a dress with knee-high boots. These are just a few options but you could try anything with the sweater vests!
Speaking of knee-high boots . . .
The last two trendy items are in regards to shoes. The first being knee-high boots. When I say these change your energy, I. MEAN. IT. Want to feel like the bad a$$ you are? Put on some knee-high boots. You will strut like you are on a runway in .5 seconds. If you want to add a little flare to the look of knee-high boots, find slouchy boots. I am sure if you follow Khloe Kardashian, you would know all about the slouched and knee-high boots! * heart eyes 4 khlo * The last shoes are the square-toed heels. You could choose the infamous black or the beloved pastels, but either way, these will make your fit a little more girly and glossed up.
